Panic gripped Pakistan after two cases of novel coronavirus were confirmed. The first case of COVID-19 was reported in Karachi while the second in Islamabad. According to the details available so far, the patients recently came back from Iran along with their families.

The patients have been kept in isolation in Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Hospital, Islamabad and at Aga Khan Hospital, Karachi. However, the families of the patients have been tested negative.

To control the situation, President Arif Alvi has urged the people with flu and breathing issues to skip Jumma prayers and not put other people at risk.

”People who have fever cough shortness of breath or any flu symptom should avoid going to public gatherings. I have taken opinion from Ulema that for the sake of community well being they can perform prayers at home & avoid Jumma congregation so as not to put other people at risk,” President wrote.

The news of Coronavirus reaching Pakistan has led to panic across the country. With people widely sharing the precautionary measures, the price of protective masks has skyrocketed as well, witnessing an upsurge of about 1000%.
