Prime Minister’s Green Stimulus Initiative To Create 200,000 Jobs For The Youth
The local community will partake in the creation of green jobs through a program about Lake Manchar in Sindh.
According to media reports, the Ministry of Climate Change is launching new projects for the youth, women, and local communities to generate 200,000 green jobs by the end of 2021. While speaking about the initiative, an official stated:
The local community will partake in the creation of green jobs through a program about Lake Manchar in Sindh. Similarly, another program will also be initiated in Dera Ismael Khan, where the local community will be provided with green jobs through nature-based solutions.
Details of the Job-creating Project
According to details, the ministry has decided to create green jobs with the help of the Green Stimulus Initiative after discussions with the higher authorities.
The Green Stimulus initiative was launched by Prime Minister Imran Khan last year in April after Covid-19 hit the country. The project aims to create green jobs for the youth, who were rendered jobless from various sectors due to business closure and various economic activities. The initiative has also prepared a financial model for the green jobs funded by the Ecosystem Restoration Fund.
Sources state that previously the Green Stimulus initiative led to the generation of 87,000 green jobs for the youth rendered unemployed. According to the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Climate Change, Malik Amin Aslam, the number of green jobs will reach 200,000 at the end of this year, and it will continue to increase in the coming years.
