While addressing the numerous cases of children rape and pornography surfacing in Kasur and Chunian, Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday ordered the senior officials and chief minister Usman Buzdar to spread awareness amongst religious scholars, schoolteachers, parents and notables and offer them proper training on how they can protect their children from these criminals.
Prime Minister was supervising a number of meetings, include one on law and order held at Chief Minister Secretariat.
After the briefing of Retired Capt. Arif Nawaz, Punjab Inspector General of Police, on the issue, the prime minister expressed his concern, saying that the criminals should be identified in time and held accountable.
He said that campaigns should be launched, other than making coordinated efforts, by the government and the community to stop such crimes from occurring continuously.
He also ordered strict action against the mafias involved in such cases.
“I will be standing behind the officials who feel pressurized from influential criminals,” – he said.
The IG told Imran Khan about the steps being taken to control the crime, action was taken against the gangs involved in such crimes, changes in the Thana culture, training being given to police officials, amendments made in pre-existing laws and suggestions to make the citizens aware of such criminals.
During a meeting on the health sector, the prime minister was further briefed on the development projects, progress made in Insaf Health Cards, the implementing of MTI (Medical Teaching Institutions) Act, improvement in dealing with hospital emergencies and construction of new cardiology facility in the neighborhood of Jinnah Hospital.
The prime minister was also told about the improvement in the implementation of a new local government system and Municipal Services Programme. All these meetings were co-chaired by CM Usman Buzdar.
