Prime Minister Imran Khan Validates Foreign Driving Licenses In Islamabad
Now, the ITP staff will not fine drivers with valid foreign driving licenses.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has ordered all the related authorities to validate foreign driving licenses in Islamabad. This decision was taken after hundreds of requests were made by expatriates on Prime Minister’s Citizen Portal.
Following the directives from the PM office, Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) ordered the staff and deputy superintendents of traffic police to accept a driving license issued by other countries. They are asked to ensure that the instructions are seriously implemented.
Now the ITP staff will not fine drivers with valid foreign driving licenses. Superintendent of Police (SP) ITP Khalid Rasheed said that after the orders from Imran Khan, expatriates are now allowed to drive vehicles in the federal capital with licenses obtained from abroad.
SP Rasheed added that this is the first time that foreign driving licenses will be accepted here. He said licenses issued by ITP were also accepted in some countries.
Before this new directive, people without licenses were fined. Due to this, expatriates, who were in the country for a short time, faced a lot of difficulties in the federal capital as it took 40 days to acquire the license back.
