CJP recently ordered to remove Dr. Zafar Mirza from his respective position.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Health Dr. Zafar Mirza made the headlines after Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed questioned his qualifications.
The comments came as the Supreme Court of Pakistan resumed hearing on a suo motu case regarding the worsening COVID-19 situation in the country. During the hearing, CJP Ahmed said that the government is failing to do anything about it.
He said there is an army of ministers and advisors but no work is being done. CJP alleged that these ministers are corrupt and ordered to remove Dr. Zafar Mirza from his respective position.
However, Dr. Mirza has a proven impressive professional record. Before serving as SAPM, he was appointed as Director of Health System Development at the World Health Organization (WHO) regional office for Eastern Mediterranean.
While serving at WHO, Mirza was responsible for improving the performance of the health system in the region through evidence-based policy advice, building individual and institutional capacity, and supporting priority programs through better governance, workforce, financing, technologies, and services.
Early Education and Career:
Dr. Zafar Mirza is a doctor with post-graduation in public health in developing countries from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He also has a clinical stint in mental health.

He also served as Regional Advisor for Essential Medicines and Pharmaceutical Policies in the WHO Regional Office for five years.
