Profile: Here’s all you need to know about the new Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed

It was recently notified by the Ministry of Law that Justice Gulzar Ahmed would be now appointed as the new Chief Justice of Pakistan.
According to the sources, Gulzar Ahmed would take charge on the 21st of December as the new Chief Justice of Pakistan after the retirement of Justice Asif Saeed Khosa.
Arif Alvi, President of Pakistan, has approved the appointment of the new Chief Justice.
Gulzar Ahmed was born in Karachi on the 2nd of February; 1957. He is the son of Noor Muhammad, a competent and famous face in the world of law.
As mentioned by the Supreme Court website, Gulzar Ahmed went to Gulistan School, after which he got his bachelor’s degree in arts from GNC (Government National College) Karachi. He then went on to get his law degree from S.M Law College, a distinguished law college in Karachi.
On the 18th of January, 1986, Justice Ahmed was enrolled as an advocate, after which on the 4th of April, 1988, he joined the High Court. Thereafter, he officially joined the honorable Supreme Court of Pakistan on the 15th of September, 2001.
Gulzar Ahmed also served as the honorary secretary of Karachi’s Sindh High Court Bar Association from 1999 to 2000. In his legal career, he has been practicing on the civil-cooperate side. Additionally, he has served as a legal advisor to various banks, financial companies as well as multinational firms in the country.
