PSL 2022: Twitter divided over Mohammad Wasim’s approach in the last over

Lahore Qalandars will be playing the Multan Sultans in the final of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2022 on Sunday. The Qalandars beat Islamabad United in what according to some fans was the best PSL knock out game ever.

Lahore decided to bat first after winning the toss and it looked like a bad decision when they lost both the openers for 7 runs.  However, Abdullah Shafique’s 52 and David Wiese’s late onslaught took them to 168/7.

Just as Lahore, Islamabad United also had a bad start to their innings. The two times PSL champions were 46/4 in the powerplay but Alex Hales managed to keep the scoreboard ticking. The game went down to the wire as Wiese had to defend 8 off the last over.

With just two wickets in hand, Mohammad Wasim Jr. didn’t want to take the risk as he refused two singles in the last over. Shadab Khan clearly didn’t seem happy with his approach.

The Waziristan born cricketer eventually decided to run for a couple but he got run out while completing the second run. Lahore won by 6 runs after Waqas Maqsood failed to clear the boundary rope by inches and got caught.

Mohammad Wasim Jr’s approach was heavily criticised on Twitter. However, some cricket fans also stated that he is young and he will learn a lot from this experience.
