PSL 5 : Shane Watson Now Holds This PSL Record, Surpasses Kamran Akmal [Video]

Representing Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League, Shane Watson has broken Peshawar Zalmi’s wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal’s record for most sixes by any batsman in the HBL PSL.

The Quetta Gladiators’ all-rounder broke this record during the 14th over of today’s match when he hit Multan Sultans’ leg spinner, Imran Tahir, for six. Shane Watson now has 74 sixes in the PSL surpassing Kamran Akmal, who is just one short of the record number of sixes.

The right handed batsman played a wonderful innings of 80 runs from 41 balls against Multan chasing a total of 200. Despite Watson’s innings, Quetta Gladiators couldn’t chase down the total and came 30 runs short of the target.

Shane Watson has been an important part of the Pakistan Super League, having featured in all of the four previous editions.  He also had an important role to play in the Gladiators’ last year PSL triumph.

Shane Watson finished the last year’s PSL as the tournament’s best player with 430 runs to his name in the tournament.
