PTA or Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has approved and whitelisted 9,816 IP (Internet-Protocol) addresses and VPN registrations from 2018 to 2021.

According to the annual reports from PTA, 3,500 IP addresses were for call centers, 248 for LDI operators, and 762 for video conferencing. Similarly, 5,306 VPN registrations were done during the above-mentioned time frame.

From FY 2018 to 2019, 576 IP addresses were whitelisted and 81 VPN registrations were done. In FY 2019-20, around 1,749 IP addresses were whitelisted and 1,368 VPN registrations were done. In FY 2020-21, 2,185 IPs were whitelisted and 3,857 VPN registrations were done.

Not just this, but PTA also joined hands with the Pakistan Software Export Board and launched an online portal for VPN registration and IP Whitelisting for software houses, freelancers, and call centers. This online portal would help ease doing business. Call centers, companies, freelancers, etc. that have static IP addresses and verification letters from their business can easily register themselves at the portal.

Before this, call centers and IT companies had to route applications through the relevant ISPs. To make the whitelisting process more convenient, a one-window has also been established for PSEB Call Centers.
