PTA starts training licensed operators to begin trials of 5G network

  • PTA (Pakistan Telecommunication Authority) and GSMA (GSM Association) recently organized a two-day training workshop on 5G networks.
  • The workshop was focused mainly on the development of technology. 
  • International speakers and professionals headed the training session.

 

Since 5G has taken a hold over our imaginations and plans to implement it in Pakistan are already in the work, it is necessary for enthusiasts to educate themselves about the revolutionary technology.

Keeping this in mind, PTA (Pakistan Telecommunication Authority) and GSMA (GSM Association) recently organized a two-day training workshop on 5G networks in Islamabad.

Organized under the ‘PTA-GSMA Capacity Building Centre of Excellence Program’, the workshop took place on July 3 and 4, 2019. It was focused mainly on the development of this technology, including the phases of evolution, trials in numerous countries and tests. The event was a success as almost 30 participants, including foreigners, attended it.

The workshop also consisted of several sessions with renowned national as well as international speakers. In the session, participants were taught about the challenges in the deployment of 5G networks and PTA’s contribution in it, and the opportunities this technology brought forth.

During the speech, PTA Chairman Major General (Retd.) Amir Azeem Bajwa explained that PTA held great importance as a regulator and also that it has always encouraged and motivated the implementation and arrival of new ideas and innovations that geared towards the betterment of the citizens.

Major Bajwa also said that PTA is facilitating licensed operators like R&D organization, academia and all related segments for running trials of 5G networks across Pakistan.
He further said that Pakistan won’t have to wait a great deal of time to obtain its first 5G network, in which the consumers will make use of faster broadband services and greater bandwidths.

In conclusion of the workshop, he distributed certificates among all those that took their time out and participated, he expressed how satisfied he was with the proceeding.

However, this won’t be the only workshop of its kind, as the first ever international ‘PTA-GSMA Capacity Building Centre of Excellence’ has been initiated at PTA for their regional training.
