PTI Government Takes Unconventional Steps For Welfare of Disabled People

Pakistan, even while having international obligations to ensure welfare for disabled persons, has maintained a blind eye towards them for the most part. With depriving them of their basic rights, the disabled individuals have also been denied their political representation hence their problems have never gotten the voice.

This stresses for a comprehensive law for the wellbeing of people with special needs. In Pakistan, they are non-existent. Mostly are only subjected to the 1981 ordinance, which only talks about the employment rights.

Following are the few steps that have been taken:

3) Devising mechanism for the free provision of wheelchairs to the disabled individuals will be Federal and Provincial government’s responsibility as well.
