PTI Government To Register All Religious Schools in Next Four Years
The federal government will be registering around 35,000 seminaries across the country before the end of its constitutional term in 2023, according to the Federal Minister for Education, Shafqat Mehmood.
Speaking at the 15th Inter-Provincial Education Ministers Conference at the Federal Education and Professional Training Ministry, Shafqat Mehmood said, “We’ve around 35,000 seminaries across the country, which all will be registered in the next four years as part of our efforts to bring them into the mainstream. Our registration exercise will target 2,000-3,000 religious schools in the first year and the rest in the next three years.”
The Federal Education Minister also announced to increase the number of offices for seminary registration. As per him, the current number of such offices is 16.
A couple of teachers, appointed by the seminary, will be responsible for providing formal education to students. These two teachers will get Rs 17,000 each as a stipend every month from the federal government. Shafqat Mehmood also assured the provinces of the federal government’s support for strengthening education system in the country.
He further said that the federal government isn’t working alone on national curriculum. He added that the National Curriculum Council has representation of all provinces.
Shafqat Mehmood also stated that his ministry has provided technical education to 0.2 million children. Moreover, he also announced to launch a comprehensive programme to improve the quality of education in schools with the $450 million assistance of the World Bank.
