The District Information Secretary of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Mian Naveed Aslam, who reportedly slapped a Senior Postmaster, Sofia Qasim, at her office in Sahiwal General Post Office (GPO), was granted bail by a local court the day after the incident.
Speaking to a local news channel, the Senior Postmaster, said, “The district information secretary tortured me as soon as I entered my office on the 24th of September. He grabbed me by the arm and started dragging me.”
She added, “Naveed Aslam had threatened to kill and kidnap me in the presence of the post office staff and kept on saying that nothing could harm him as he was a member of the PTI Pakistan.”
Sofia Qasim said, “The police had registered a case against the PTI leader ; however, they had deliberately included provisions that made it easier for him to obtain bail.”
On the other hand, Mian Naveed Aslam denied the allegations made by Sofia and said he has a business relationship with the post office. Aslam said, “I had been asking Sofia Qasim for details of my compensation and remittances for several days.”
He added, “When I entered Sofia Qasim’s office on the 24th of September, there was already a post office staff present who, as soon as I entered her room, locked the door and tortured me and my party members. The staff also insulted the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan. After that, they called the police and accused me of torturing Sofia Qasim.”
In an interview with a digital media platform, the district secretary said, “My aim is to expose the government employees’ corruption. He added, “This woman (Sofia Qasim) has been falsely accusing me by taking advantage of her power.
