PTV Deletes Cynthia Ritchie’s Appointment Tweet

The tweet was shortly deleted after massive backlash on social media.

Pakistan Television (PTV) has deleted the tweet in which it announced that American  blogger Cynthia Ritchie has joined the channel.

The state-owned broadcaster announced that the American writer and filmmaker will be conducting a programme on PTV-World in the near future.

Cynthia Ritchie PTV Although, PTV deleted this tweet shortly but Cynthia Ritchie confirmed her joining Pakistan Television.

She further said that it’s an honour for her.

Following the announcement, social media users slammed PTV for the appointment. A Twitter user called it “utter disgrace and a waste of taxpayer money.”

Some netizens also joked about PM Khan’s statement about foreigners coming to Pakistan for jobs.

It remains to be seen whether Cynthia Ritchie will be seen on the screen of PTV after her appointment’s tweet was deleted. The American citizen has been living in Pakistan for the last few years. She has worked with Inter-Services Public Relations on different projects.

Recently, she was yet again part of the news after found unconscious at her Islamabad flat. Before that she was in the news for issues regarding her visa.

According to journalist Mubashir Zaidi, her visa issue has still not been resolved.

The US blogger had also accused former interior minister, Rehman Malik, of raping her. Earlier this year, she withdrew her petition seeking the registration of a criminal case against Senator Rehman Malik.
