Punjab Assembly moves resolution banning celebrities from hosting popular Ramazan transmissions

Provincial government has requested the center to put a ban on celebrity appearances and make it mandatory to invite religious scholars.

Just ahead of Ramzan, Punjab Assembly has passed a resolution seeking a ban on celebrities hosting Ramzan transmissions. It was submitted last week and has been unanimously accepted by the assembly yesterday.

They have insisted that transmissions should instead only be hosted by religious scholars and the federal government should ensure display of utmost respect during these shows.

“Having people associated with showbiz host Ramazan transmissions is an unfortunate practice. Ramazan transmissions are hosted by people who have no affiliation with the ranks of the Islamic faith. This practice afflicts the spirits of millions of Muslims every year.” – it stated.
