Punjab Government to hire more than 16,000 teachers to tackle unemployment
He added that during the previous tenure of PMLN from 2013 to 18, SED Punjab hired more than 230,000 on merit.
The government of Punjab has decided to hire educators in public sector schools operated by the School Education Department (SED).
This decision has been taken to address the shortage of educators in Punjab and is also a part of the provincial government’s efforts to tackle unemployment.
While taking to Twitter, the Punjab Education Minister Rana Masood Ahmed Khan said that the province will recruit over 16,000 educators. He added that during the previous tenure of PMLN from 2013 to 18, SED Punjab hired more than 230,000 on merit.

Just last month, the Punjab Teachers Union (PTU) asked the new government to increase the salaries of teaching and non-teaching staff at public sector schools and colleges by 50%.
The Central President of the PTU, Chaudhary Sarfaraz said that the staff is the backbone of the education system but they are suffering due to low salaries amid such high inflation.
