Punjab Government To Launch Ehsaas Ration Discount Programme
Punjab government has decided to launch the Ehsaas Ration Discount Programme in the province to help low-income families amid the crippling inflation.
A meeting of the Steering Committee of the Ehsaas Punjab Programme was held on Wednesday. It was attended by Punjab Finance Minister Muhammad Mohsin Leghari, Advisor for Social Protection Senator Dr. Sania Nishtar, Planning and Development Board Chairman Abdullah Khan Sumbal, and other senior officials.
While addressing the meeting, the Finance Minister said that deserving families will be provided edible items under this program.
He informed the meeting that data from the National Bank of Pakistan, NADRA, and mobile phone companies will be acquired to make grocery stores part of the digital ecosystem to ensure the provision of edible items.
“This would ensure transparency in the programme as well as provide easy access to the targeted deserving persons,” he added.
Muhammad Mohsin Leghari also talked about the government’s plan to provide medical treatment to disabled people. The government will soon approve the Ehsaas Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection Act 2022.
Ehsaas Desks would be established across Punjab to facilitate the registered families, the Punjab Finance Minister informed. “Moreover, Khidmat Centres would also be utilized for Ehsaas Desks,” he added.
