After successful implementation of Green Growth Initiative in KP, “Punjab Green Development Programme” launched in Punjab

Punjab government has launched $273 million Punjab Green Development Program in the province to control the growing dangers of climate change. The $273 million project has been launched in collaboration with World Bank. Chief Minister Usman Buzdar in a tweet said that the government is working on institutional reforms, amendments in law and the promotion of green technology.

Chief Minister Punjab also said that the government is working to reduce environmental pollution in it’s master plans. He further added that under the Clean Green Punjab projec, the government is carrying out massive tree plantation across the province.

Furthermore, Usman Buzdar announced to shut down kilns incapable of shifting on zigzag technology from November 15 to control smog in Lahore and other cities of the province. Moreover, Chief Minister Punjab also announced to seal tyre burning factories and impose fines on smoke emitting vehicles.

Advisor to Prime Minister on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam said that the Punjab Green Development Program will be helpful in moving towards green development in the province. He added that this project was initiated to strengthen environmental governance and promote green investment in Punjab.
