"It was quite challenging to manage so many things, but I did not give up,"- Muhammad Irfan.
A Punjab police sub-inspector, Rana Muhammad Irfan, recently completed his Ph.D. in chemistry from the Government College University (GCU) Lahore while simultaneously fulfilling his official duties.
Dr. Rana Muhammad Irfan told Urdu Point that he used to work in a private company before becoming a police officer. He strived hard to complete his education, along with managing his job and family.
Irfan said, “It was quite challenging to manage so many things, but I did not give up. The study hours were not confined to any specific time slot of the day, given my job’s nature.”
The police sub-inspector added, “If you believe in something and you are putting in adequate efforts, anything can be achievable.”
Speaking about support from the police department, Irfan said, “Punjab police officers cooperated with me and I was given official leave to complete my research work.”
Narrating his journey, Irfan said, “I joined the police service as an Assistant Sub-Inspector in 2007. At that time, I had completed my master’s degree. After that, I completed my M.Phil from 2011 to 2013 during my service. I started my Ph.D. in 2016. I was posted in different police stations and also posted at investigations wing during my Ph.D. time.”
Towards the end of the interview, Irfan said, “There is no alternative to education. It opens new avenues. I must say the youth should pursue their education; surely, this will pay them back in many ways.”
