Rahim Yar Khan: Hindu family tortured for getting water from mosque tap
See details here!
A farm worker’s family was tortured for “violating the sanctity” of the religious place.
According to details, the incident took place a few days ago when Alam Ram Bheel and his family were picking raw cotton in a field.
When the Hindu family went outside a nearby mosque to get water from a tap, some locals from the Basti Kahoor Khan area of Rahim Yar Khan beat them up. When the family returned after unloading the cotton, the villagers held them hostage, at their outhouse and physically tortured them again.
Bheel told a source that the police did not file the case as the attackers were related to a local Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf parliamentarian.
Confirming the incident, a senior lawyer and former district bar president, Farooq Rind, said he also belonged to Basti Kahoor where Hindus had been living for over a century. He said most of the Bheel clan members were farmworkers and extremely poor.
The lawyer further went on to say the accused landlords were infamous for picking up fights with other villagers over trivial issues. Rind promised free legal assistant for the Hindu family.
