Shoaib Akhtar proposes India-Pakistan series to raise funds for COVID-19, Rajeev Shukla calls the idea ‘comical’

However, Akhtar, in a video on his YouTube channel, said that he wanted India and Pakistan to play a series without a crowd and just broadcasting units.

The former chairman of the Indian Premier League (IPL) Rajeev Shukla termed Shoaib Akhtar’s proposal of conducting a series between Pakistan and India to raise funds for COVID-19 pandemic as ‘comical’.

‘’Shoaib Akhtar is a jolly and moody man, everyone knows it’’, Shukla said. He added that at this point, they aren’t even able to organize IPL.

‘’Who will come to watch that match? Who will allow players to come and play?’’, he questioned.

Shukla said that Pakistan and India don’t play bilateral tournaments. He added that nobody would organize the match during the on-going situation in India and the situation of Pakistan is even worse.

The two teams have not played any bilateral series against each other since 2007. They have played as rivals in ICC events and the Asia Cup only.

The COVID-19 pandemic has halted sporting activities across the world. The tournaments that were taking place have either been postponed or canceled.

However, Akhtar, in a video on his YouTube channel, said that he wanted India and Pakistan to play a series without a crowd and just broadcasting units.

‘’Three ODIs or T20Is should be played. I cannot understand why this is a bad idea’’, he said.
