Ramiz Raja unlikely to continue, next chairman PCB already confirmed: Report

Chairman PCB Ramiz Raja and PM Imran Khan

As expected, Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Ramiz Raja is unlikely to continue if the resolution for a vote of no-confidence is passed in the next few days. The current Chairman PCB was appointed by PM Imran Khan and if he doesn’t remain in the PM’s office, it will also be over for Raja as well.

According to a report by Cricket Pakistan, in case PM Khan is ousted, many high ranking PCB officials will lose their jobs including the chairman. The report further added that a former chairman PCB has already been informed of reclaiming his position. He is also being congratulated for making it back to the PCB headquarters as the boss in private gatherings.

The decision regarding the appointment of the PCB’s chairman is made by the Prime Minister, who is the patron-in-chief of the cricket board. Ramiz Raja as well as Ehsan Mani were appointed at this position by PM Imran Khan.

During his time as the PCB’s boss, Pakistan cricket team qualified for the semi-finals of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Furthermore, Pakistan also successfully hosted the seventh edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Moreover, Pakistan acquired the hosting rights of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Just recently, PM Imran Khan approved the construction of a cricket stadium in Islamabad.

The two former chairmans of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) who are close to the opposition parties are Najam Sethi and Zaka Ashraf. It remains to be seen whether one of them will be picked for the powerful position or some other former chairman PCB will be brought in.
