The salary of Former Chief Judge of Gilgit Baltistan, Rana Shamim, as vice-chancellor of a university in Sindh has raised eyebrows. According to a private news channel, the former judge is the highest paid VC of any university in Sindh.
Furthermore, the private news channel also revealed that Rana Shamim was getting his monthly salary despite being absent from the university for several months. The former judge of Gilgit Baltistan is getting a salary of PKR 3 million as the Vice-Chancellor of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto University (SZABU).

When asked about this, Chief Minister Sindh denied the report that Rana Shamim hasn’t visited the university for a year and a half. The CM Sindh also defended the salary being given to the former Judge.
SZABU member syndicate and Sindh Assembly member, Liaqat Askani also revealed that the last time Rana Shamim attended the syndicate meeting was nine months ago. He added that upon contacting him following the syndicate meeting, he was told that he is in Islamabad.
Moreover, Sindh Minister for Universities and Boards of Education Ismail Rahu also revealed that he hasn’t met the VC of SZABU even once, raising further questions.
