Rashid Khan preferred Lahore Qalandars over money: Sameen Rana
Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan has been one of the best performing players in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The leg-spinner played a huge part in Lahore Qalandars’ maiden PSL triumph.
Lahore Qalandars Chief Operating Officer, Sameen Rana, has revealed that Rashid Khan preferred the Qalandars over money. He said that the leg-spinner was approached by other franchises and offered him more money but he turned it down.
Sameen Rana added that the relationship with Rashid Khan goes beyond cricket. “Rashid was approached by some other teams who used Pathan and Afghanistan references and tried everything to get him out of Lahore Qalandars,” he said.
The Lahore Qalandars COO revealed that their other players have also been approached by PSL franchises, terming it very unprofessional. He advised them to focus on their team-building rather than trying to break other teams.
“You have to do relation-building with players so they play to the best of their ability,” Rana said. He also talked about how he has been criticised for not managing players properly.
According to Sameen Rana, there is a concept that if you have paid someone, you have the right to be harsh to them. “My training tells me that if someone scored 100 and the other scored zero, that doesn’t make them a good or a bad human being.”
