Rawalpindi: 183 buildings in danger of collapsing during monsoon season [LIST]
Here's the list.
As the month of monsoon begins, city authorities are looking to safeguarding areas from destruction. During the assessment, Rawalpindi’s civic agencies have declared 183 old buildings and certain cantonment areas as ‘dangerous’ for living.
According to details, 83 buildings have been declared dangerous to reside in during the monsoon season’s stormy winds and heavy rainfall. The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has further declared 100 buildings ‘unsafe’ after surveying the old and dilapidated buildings in the city.
The agencies have marked forty-five of these buildings as ‘most dangerous’ and have issued notices to the residents to either vacate or reconstruct them. These buildings are located in Bohar Bazaar, Naya Mohallah, Lunda Bazaar, New Sarafa Bazaar, Chittian Hattian, Bhabara Bazaar, Nishtarabad, Chachhi Mohallah, Allam Khan Road, Mohallah Niarian, Mohallah Waris Khan, Saidpuri Gate, Shah Chan Chiragh Mohallah, Talwaran Bazaar, Mochi Bazaar, Purana Qila, Raja Bazaar, Rani Bazaar, and Chowk Bansanwala.
It is pertinent to mention that the civic agencies issue notices to the owners of these buildings during the monsoon , every year. However, the authorities fail to develop a more practical solution, and building owners fail to comply with the warning notice.
