Siddiqui was part of the Reuters photography team that won the 2018 Pulitzer Prize in the Feature Photography category for documenting the Rohingya refugee crisis.

The Prize-winning Reuters Indian photojournalist, Danish Siddiqui, was killed yesterday while reporting a clash between Afghan security forces and Taliban fighters near a border crossing with Pakistan.

According to details, Afghan special forces had been fighting to take back the main market area of Spin Boldak when the photojournalist and a senior Afghan officer were assasinated in what they characterized as Taliban crossfire.

Siddiqui was stationed in the southern province of Kandahar as a journalist since earlier this week with Afghan special forces. He was reporting on fighting between Afghan commandos and Taliban fighters when he died on Friday.

Siddiqui was part of the Reuters photography team that won the 2018 Pulitzer Prize in the Feature Photography category for documenting the Rohingya refugee crisis.

Siddiqui was a Reuters photographer since 2010. His work included covering the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, Nepal earthquakes, the Rohingya refugees crisis, and the Hong Kong protests.
