Rohri: More than ten houses set on fire after woman runs away from home and marries

A group of armed men attacked and burned ten houses in Sham Kaladi village near Rohri, Sukkur. This came after the alleged ‘kidnapping’ of a woman and her sister, who belong to the Chauhan community. A four-year-old girl also lost her life due to the fire.

According to local reports, the woman wanted to marry from her free will to a young man from the Panhwar community. Accompanied by her sister, Sughra Chohan left her house and married a man named Moin Panhwar.

Meanwhile, her family complained to the elders of the community and claimed that the Panhwar men had kidnapped the two sister.

Upon this, a group of angry men attacked the Panhwar community, ransacking their houses. They set fire to more than ten houses and also fired bullets. The Panhwar community members said that the attackers are from the Chauhan community and approached police officials at the Dubar police station. They complained that the attackers had resorted to heavy firing to harass people in their neighborhood before setting fire to their houses.

The police rushed to the area of the crime but the attackers had already fled the scene. However, a four-year-old girl’s body was retrieved from a burnt house.
