Alia Bhatt, even in the shortest span in the Bollywood industry, has really made her mark. Challenging herself further and pulling off a very unconventional role, Alia is starring in the upcoming movie Kalank – a story situated in the pre-independent era. The story revolves around an elite family, as many of its hidden truths begin to unfold with the rising tensions in the near-partition time frame.
The initial songs and looks give a fair idea of Alia’s work in the film, and it is nothing less of what one can expect from her. However, in her recent interview, she has revealed her inspiration behind her character (she is playing Roop, a dancer) in her upcoming movie and it is none other than our very own Kashf.
Kashf from the very popular Zindagi Gulzar Hai, played by Sanam Saeed, is a very simple yet extremely strong character. The character reflects a spectrum of energy – very vulnerable and very powerful – existing in parallel.
@aliaa08 if this isn't made up news, I'm tickled pink 😊. Best wishes. Xx

People further extended their appreciation for Kashf’s role, and commented that if Alia becomes half as good as Sanam, she will be quite fortunate.
Sanam and alia both are genius

If Aalia Bhatt becomes half as good as Sanam Saeed, she'll consider herself to be a very lucky girl.

Your character in ZGH is one of the best feminist characters in modern day south Asian television. You were fabulous in your role. I have made dozens of people watch that show. Also thanks to @Netflix for making it accessible.

Kashaf is most relatable for South Asian girls and one of the greatest written female character . You played it 100/100. Dont think any performance of alia is as natural and efforless as Kashaf
