Six newborns lost their lives in District Headquarter Hospital Sargodha allegedly due to negligence on the part of hospital administration. All the infants died due to the fault in the air-conditioning facility at the hospital, families of the children alleged. The families besieged the office of the medical superintendent and demanded the criminal proceedings against the hospital management.

The bereaved families also alleged that the air-conditioners of the VIP wards and doctors’ had been repaired and maintained whilst those in the children’s wards were neither repaired nor replaced.

However, MS Dr. Shabbir denied the allegations and claimed that the children died due to premature birth, Dawn report read. He also said that children’s wards were being properly maintained despite budgetary constraints.

A relative of the one of the deceased child said that many patients informed the premier Imran Khan during his visit to the hospital that hospital administration was concealing facts and showing him only those wards where the air-conditioners were functional.
