Saudi military acknowledges Pakistan Navy’s role for regional stability

Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi arrived in the Saudi capital of Riyadh on the 18th of January, 2020, on his first official visit to Saudi Arabia.

ImageSaudi military leaders have conveyed their appreciation of Pakistan’s contributions to regional peace and stability during The Pakistan Navy chief’s ongoing visit to Riyadh.

Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi arrived in the Saudi capital of Riyadh on the 18th of January, 2020, on his first official visit to Saudi Arabia.

According to a Pakistan Navy statement, Khan met with Saudi Arabia’s Chief of the General Staff Gen. Fayyad bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili and the Royal Saudi Naval Forces commander, Vice Admiral Fahd bin Abdullah Al-Ghufaili, during his visit.

“The dignitaries acknowledged the fraternal relations between Pakistan & Saudi Arabia and appreciated Pakistan’s contributions in spearheading various initiatives for sustaining peace and stability in the region,” the Pakistani Navy said.

Admiral Niazi had received a guard of honor upon his arrival at the Royal Saudi Naval Forces (RSNF) general headquarters in Riyadh, where he also visited the RSNF command and control center.

During his meetings with General Al-Ruwaili and Vice Admiral Al-Ghufaili, “matters of mutual interest and bilateral defense ties were discussed,” the Pakistan Navy said.

The Saudi generals also appreciated Pakistan’s role in training the RSNF.

“This visit is expected to greatly boost the bilateral cooperation between both the nations in general and navies in particular,” the statement read.

The Pakistan Navy and the Royal Saudi Navy have enjoyed close relations for decades.

The Pakistan Navy provided training to Saudi officers and sailors during the Royal Saudi Navy’s formative years. The kingdom has given the Pakistan Navy free-of-cost fuel on many occasions.
