SBP launches its first online game to teach money management skills and financial literacy

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has launched an eLearning portal for the youth of Pakistan to strengthen their business management skills and understanding of financial matters.

The State Bank of Pakistan said in a statement on Thursday, “The financial education course is delivered through an “engaging and interactive” game.
The game targets three different age groups: children between 9 and 12 years, teenagers between 13 and 17 years, and youth between 18 and 19 years. The game can be accessed through a desktop browser and a mobile application.
Instructions are delivered in both Urdu and English through a story-based game format.
Users of the game follow the story of two entrepreneurial families as they make personal, business, and financial decisions. As the player of the game, the aim is to help the families build a successful business. In just a few hours, users can learn the essentials of saving, budgeting, financing, and banking, among many other skills.
Interactive questions follow each topic to evaluate the knowledge of the users. Those users who complete the course are presented with a Certificate of Financial Literacy.
The name of the game is ‘POMPAK – Learn to Earn.’ It is free, ready to be used and available on the Android and iOS systems.
