FACT CHECK: Are schools in Punjab being closed again due to rising COVID-19 cases?
The School Education Department of the Punjab government took to Twitter to clarify rumors instigated by the notification.

Lately, a notification has been making rounds on the internet titled ‘Subject: Declaration of 1 week holidays due to rise in cases of Covid-19 pandemic.’
According to the viral notification, schools in Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, and Faisalabad will be closed for a week. The notification read:
The provincial government has decided to close schools — both public and private — in the province from the 6th of March to the 13th of March in the wake of the sudden rise in Covid-19 cases.

However, the government of Punjab recently stated that the notification is ‘fake’. According to reports, Punjab’s government announced that the notification doing the rounds on social media, saying that schools in some districts of the province will close, is fake.
The School Education Department of the Punjab government took to Twitter to clarify rumors instigated by the fake notification. The department tweeted:
Following notification being circulated, related to the closure of schools in some districts, is FAKE.
