SECP registers 14,461 new companies in FY29/20, showing a 27% growth

The SECP has also taken significant steps to simplify their process.

APP: The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) registered 14,461 new companies in the Financial Year 2019/2020. The figures have shown a growth of 27% as compared to the last year.

According to the SECP Annual Report, among the registered companies:

  • 73 per cent registered themselves as private limited,
  • 24 per cent as single-member and
  • three per cent were registered as public companies, not-for-profit associations, trade organizations, foreign companies or limited liability partnerships.

During the ongoing fiscal year, around 93 per cent of companies registered themselves online. Moreover, 54 per cent of these registrations were done within the same day.

Not just this, foreign investment has also been reported in 617 new companies. During the FY19/20, 37 foreign companies from Canada, China, Germany, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Turkey, the UK, and the US have also established their businesses in Pakistan.

The SECP has also taken significant steps to simplify their process. They include has also integrated its online system with Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Employees Old-Age Benefits Institutions (EOBI) and Business Registration portals of Punjab and Sindh.
