[See Pictures]: Lockdown brings Karachi’s air pollution level down

With public transportation completely at a halt, minimal use of private vehicles and restricted industrial activity, Karachi’s air pollution had reduced for the time being.

Karachi is one of many cities worldwide that’s enjoying improved air quality since the nationwide lockdown was imposed due to the coronavirus.

The National Forum for Environment and Health (NFEH) has stated that the lockdown regime imposed in Karachi has provided an excellent opportunity to the concerned authorities to reexamine urban sprawl, mass transportation and industrial demands of the city to control dangerous carbon emissions.

The President of the NFEH, Naeem Qureshi, said the city was one of the central commercial and industrial hubs all over the world where the lockdown had brought an immediate drop in air pollution levels.

Qureshi further said, “With public transportation completely at a halt, minimal use of private vehicles and restricted industrial activity, Karachi’s air pollution had reduced for the time being.
