The official Twitter handle of the President of the United States and The White House have now unfollowed the Indian Prime Minister Narender Modi on a social networking site Twitter.

The White House has also unfollowed the Twitter handle of Indian President Ram Nath Kovind, the Prime Minister’s office, as well as, the Indian embassy in the US.

Three weeks ago, Narender Modi had the ‘honor’ of being the only world leader followed by the official handle of the US President.

The White House had followed Modi and the other Indian handles after asking him to lift the ban on the export of hydroxychloroquine, a drug that Trump had repetitively suggested as a magical solution to the coronavirus. After Trump’s request and a little pressure, Modi finally lifted the ban on the medicine’s export.

Following this, the US President had tweeted saying, “Extraordinary times need even closer collaboration between friends.”

However, it is not clear as to why the White House unfollowed Modi on Twitter and if the action can be seen as a representation of unfriendly relations between the two countries.
