Shabbir Merchant turned his Dh1,500 monthly salary into millions.
“I came from a very humble background and my siblings and I have watched our father work hard for a living”- Shabbir Marchant
When Merchant first came here in Dubai, there were no skyscrapers, luxury cars, and signage boards in the city.
This is quite incredible that Shabbar has never, to date, taken bank loans or financial aids to boost his business.
Shabbir Marchant was an 18-year-old boy who had a dream to succeed when he first came to the UAE in 1976.
Shabbir was born in December 1958 in Karachi. While talking to Gulf News, Merchant said that he came from a very humble background. His siblings and he had watched their father work hard for a living and so they learned to do that as well.
“My father was strict about money, he was a disciplined man and he taught us the value of it. His values are ingrained in me,” Merchant.
His older brother, in 1976, called him to Dubai. Under his support and guidance, Merchant helped his brother in his signage company.
”When I first came here in Dubai, there were no skyscrapers, luxury cars, and signage boards in the city. In 1989, Merchant started Champion Neon with a little office space of 800 square feet in Deira.”
While remembering old days, 61-year-old millionaire recalled, “There were so many obstacles, I never imagined I would come this far.”
Never rely on bank loans:
This is quite incredible that Shabbir Merchant has never, to date, took bank loans or financial aids to boost his business.
