Shahid Afridi announces to launch Mega Stars League (MSL)

Former Pakistan captain and all-rounder Shahid Khan Afridi has announced to launch his own T10 league, Mega Stars League (MSL). The inaugural edition of the league will be played in September this year.

Shahid Afridi shared the details about MSL in a press conference held yesterday. Former legendary players Inzamam-ul-Haq, Waqar Younis, and Mushtaq Ahmed were also present on the occasion. They are all expected to be part of the tournament.

Speaking to the media, Shahid Afridi said that the MSL will be played in T10 format. The idea behind the league is to financially support the ex-cricketers, athletes, and sports journalists.

“Mega Star League is an entertaining league, which is scheduled to be played in September in Rawalpindi this year. The core idea behind introducing this league is to financially support the ex-cricketers, athletes, and sports journalists,” Afridi said.

Sharing further details about the upcoming tournament, he said that it will have six teams fighting for the title. The team will also have the services of renowned foreign cricketers.

Regarding the Pakistan Super League (PSL), the former cricketer said that it is a tournament for the youngsters and he isn’t young enough anymore. “I, Mushtaq Ahmed, Inzamam-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis will play in MSL,” he concluded. 

Renowned singer Mustafa Zahid took to his Twitter account to announce that he has partnered with Shahid Afridi to launch Mega Stars League ‘the biggest celebrity cricket league across the globe.’
