Sharmila Faruqui gets mocked for ‘boasting’ about Peoples Bus Service
The intra-district Peoples Bus Service was inaugurated by the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Monday earlier this week. The inauguration ceremony was also attended by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Transport Minister Sharjeel Memon, and Labour Minister Saeed Ghani and others.
Under the much needed project, hundreds of buses will operate on seven different routes across Karachi. On Tuesday, as many as 100 new buses arrived at Karachi Port from China.
According to Sharjeel Memon, the provincial government of Sindh will bring thousands of buses in a year or two. He added that progress to set up a manufacturing plant has also been made.
The PPP leaders took to their social media accounts to share news about the bus service. However, one particular tweet got the most attention. Member of Sindh assembly Sharmila Faruqui clicked a selfie in one of the buses.
“Promise delivered,” she captioned her viral selfie.

A Twitter user Syed Zain Raza wrote: “We are asked to celebrate a BUS in a city with a population of 30 million that has had PPP in power for almost three decades.”
While almost every city in India has metro TRAINS, multiple cities in Iran have metro TRAINS, we are asked to celebrate a BUS in a city with a population of 30 million that has had PPP in power for almost three decades.. https://t.co/JJLyz3C4g5

PPP is bragging about delivering a basic service to a big metropolitan city which they have been ruling for several decades.
Normal people would be ashamed instead of bragging about it this way, but normal people won't join PPP in the first place. https://t.co/NhCRfhyXoQ

This is year 2022 and a leader of ruling party, who are in power on and off since the beginning, feeling proud on providing the basic facility to the people of the financial hub of Pakistan 🤦
PPPs motto is to provide basic facilities as if they are paying zakat to the needy… https://t.co/dJML5coT9W
