The Sindh High Court has ordered that all faculty members holding a Ph.D. be given a monthly allowance of PKR 25,000.

A two-member bench, comprising Justice Irfan Saadat Khan and Justice Adnanul Karim, issued a written verdict over a case registered by advocate Dr. Liaquat Abro.

The petitioner stated in the plea that some Ph.D. holders have been receiving a PKR 25,000 monthly allowance while others are receiving only PKR 10,000 per month.

The court inquired to the reason behind this discrimination, and the Sindh government apprised that only Ph.D. holders teaching in government institutes are being paid PKR 25,000.

The ones teaching in private universities are being paid PKR 10,000, the government’s spokesperson notified.

The court directed that all Ph.D. holders are to be paid an allowance of PKR 25,000 without discrimination.

The bench ordered the Chief Secretary (CS) Sindh to forward the summary to the Chief Minister of Sindh, Sayed Murad Ali Shah, to grant the monthly allowance within 15 days.

  • What’s the fault of other provinces? Why PhD researchers of the other three provinces are still being paid Rs.10000 per month? By looking at the track record of PTI government vis-a-vis government employees, I don’t see that other provinces will get that 25K allowance.
