Islamabad will no longer have check posts

Following the decision, 18 check posts in the capital city out of 21 were immediately removed by the authorities.

The Interior Minister, Sheikh Rashid, has ordered to remove all security check posts from the roads of Islamabad to facilitate the flow of traffic.

Sources have revealed that smart patrol cars, equipped with the latest technology, will replace the check posts.

Following the decision, 18 check posts in the capital city out of 21 were immediately removed by the authorities.

In his press conference on Thursday, the minister informed the media that only three check posts, two near luxury hotels and one on the Margalla Road, would remain functional.

Sheikh Rashid said that once the city police get more smart patrol cars in its convoy, there would not be any need for the city’s remaining check posts either.

State-of-the-art technology

He added that the new patrol vehicles, with their state-of-the-art technology, would instantly track down any suspicious vehicle anywhere in the city.

The minister said that the concerned authorities have been planning a new security arrangement.  It would serve people more effectively, without causing them any distress or inconvenience.

He added that Islamabad is also a hot spot for tourists and other visitors from foreign countries. Rashid stressed that the government must give them the best impression of Pakistan when they visit the city.
