Shocking: Ayubia chairlift continued to operate even 27 years after its expiry
The existing chairlift was constructed in 1965 and was considered extremely risky by the WPK International company in 2019 after a safety inspection
After the Galyat Development Authority declared the Ayubia chairlift dangerous for tourists, the chairlift’s service was deferred until the installation could be replaced.
The Director-General of the GDA, Raza Ali Habib, announced the news in a press release on Friday. He said that the Ayubia chairlift was not safe for human use and that operating a chairlift in such uncertain conditions posed a significant risk to everyone on board.
Raza Ali Habeeb further went on to say that the existing chairlift was constructed in 1965 and was considered extremely risky by the WPK International company in 2019 after a safety inspection.
He revealed that the Ayubia chairlift expired 27 years ago in 1994. The current tourism season has seen an unusual rush of tourists, with the number of visitors exceeding the chairlift’s capacity by four times.
The tourist spot was built in 1965 and included picnic areas, riding, and hiking trails. It also carried tourists to a nearby hill to view beautiful forested mountains.
