In the latest shocking incident of sexual violence against women in India, a 16-year-old rape victim was tied and paraded with her suspected attacker in a village in Madhya Pradesh.
The girl was allegedly raped by a 21-year-old man on Sunday in Madhya Pradesh’s tribal Alirajpur district, following which villagers tied the suspect and the victim with ropes and paraded them in public,
A disturbing video of them both tied with ropes as people around chanted slogans went viral on social media. Six people, including the accused, were arrested, police said after the footage triggered shock and outrage.
The Indian media reported that the rape survivor’s family members were also among those who forced her to walk with her attacker to shame her.
