The national carrier has been under scrutiny, becoming the centre of criticism due to their sluggish operations, corruption and low quality of services being offered by them. the incumbent government however has shown strong commitments towards building national airline once again – but apparently, a lot of work is needed to revamp it.
In a shocking revelation by CAA (Civil Aviation Authority), five PIA pilots don’t even hold matric certificates – as reported by a local news source.
CAA submitted this shocking report to the court, which stated that academic standing of seven pilots is bogus and questionable, while 5 among them have not even cleared their matriculation examination.
Utterly shocked by the report, the top judge commented that people with such academic credentials are not even suitable for ordinary lower level jobs, while they are working as pilots for quite years.
“A person with a qualification less than matric is not even authorized to drive a bus, here planes are being flown by pilots who are not even matric pass” – said Justice Ijaz Ahsan on the findings of the report.
In their defence, the representative of PIA informed the bench that the organization has sacked over 50 pilots who failed to provide their academic records.
The court has ordered the national carrier and concerned authorities to complete the process of degree verification within one day and submit the finalized report.
The court has also allowed PIA to hire pilots on contractual basis meanwhile also asking for entire details about pilots’ academic credentials and licenses.
