Sindh LG Election: Daughter Of Donkey-Cart Vendor Defeats PPP Candidate
The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) won with a big margin the first phase of the local governments (LG) elections but they suffered defeat in Khairpur which no one would have expected.
According to details, a candidate of the ruling party lost the election against an independent woman candidate, Parveen Sheikh. It is pertinent to mention that she is the daughter of a donkey-cart vendor, Ghulshah Sheikh. His daughter secured 430 votes.
Talking to a media outlet, Parveen Sheikh stated that she was confident that she would win the election.
PPP candidate Manthar Sheikh lost the election at ward 1 of municipal committee of Khairpur against Parveen Sheikh. The PPP candidate was nominated by the former Sindh CM Syed Qaim Ali Shah and PPP’s MNA Nafisa Shah Jillani.
According to the unofficial results, PPP won more seats than any other party in the elections held in 14 districts of Sindh province. Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) secured the second most seats, followed by Independents, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazlur (JUIF).
