[PICTURES] Sindhi Man expresses love in Shah Jehan’s style – Builds mini Taj Mahal after lover’s death

Sindhi man recreates Taj Mahal 800 km away in Pakistan.

Abdul Rasool Pali, a Sindhi man, fell in love with the real Mughal monument the Taj Mahal  when he first saw it on his visit to India. After knowing the story of the ‘monument of love’ that Mughal emperor Shah Jahan built for his wife Mumtaz Begum, Pali’s love for the mausoleum deepened.

Soon, the landlord-cum-lawyer in Umerkot decided that he will make an exact model of the monument situated 800km away as a tribute to his wife.

While speaking to a media outlet, Pali told the world his Taj Mahal story. He said:

I am already famous in the village of Dhibo for building the village cemetery. Now I am making waves internationally for recreating the Taj Mahal.

The 65-year-old Pali further shared:

I have 9,000 acres of land to my name; I am the largest land-owner in the area. I fell in love with the Mughal monument back in 1980 when I visited India for the first time.

Sharing his building story, Pali said:

I hired a mason, Sher Muhammad, for the recreation task. We plotted the building in our minds to build a small Taj Mahal with 20 feet height and 18 feet width.

Expressing the motive to recreating Taj Mahal, Pali added:

I got married at a very young age. My wife Maryam was 40 years old at the time while I was 18. Despite the age difference, our ‘arranged marriage’ turned into ‘love’ within a few days. We loved travelling together. In Hyderabad, we used to visit Rani Bagh and Jamshoro.

He further shared:

After 40 years of marriage, my wife died of a stroke in 2015. My beloved Maryam’s death made me more adamant about building the monument despite the locals’ opposition calling it a waste. It took me six months and Rs. 1.3 million to create the Taj Mahal as a tribute to the love of my life.
