Six industrial zones to be set up in different parts of KP. What will it mean for the province?
They will be the first economic industrial zones that will be built in Daraban, Karak, Buner, and Chitral.
The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has modeled a plan for setting up six industrial zones in different parts of the province. These industrial zones will be developed on 3,788 acres of land scattered across KP, including the southern districts.
They will be the first economic industrial zones that will be built in Daraban, Karak, Buner, and Chitral. The first industrial of Chitral will be established on 40 acres of land, meanwhile, another will be built in Daraban for the development of southern districts.
In the Buner district, the industrial zone will spread across 126 acres of land. The provincial government is also trying to set up special economic zones (SEZs) across KP to develop underprivileged areas and create employment opportunities.
Special Economic Zones (SEZs)
Previously, PM Imran Khan took part in the agreement-signing ceremony of Rashakai SEZ between Chinese and Pakistani companies. He hoped that these SEZs will be of significance in the progress and development of the province as they will create jobs and boost industrialization in Pakistan.
In 2019, KP Chief Minister Mahmood Khan inaugurated Dargai industrial economic zone while he was on his visit to Malakand district. CM Khan said that the government is focused on promoting the industrial and petroleum sectors.
