Social Media Echoes With Reaction To PMLN’s Victory In NA-120 Derby

NA-120, one of the most controversial and cardinal constituency of the country had all eyes fixed on it as the elections were held on the seat left vacant after Nawaz Sharif’s ouster, post-Panama case verdict.
The election was an obvious war between PTI and PML N, and a close contest was observed between the wife of former PM Nawaz Sharif, Kulsoom Nawaz and Dr. Yasmin Rashid.

Kulsoom Nawaz won the elections securing 61,254 votes whereas Dr. Yasmin got 47,066 votes from 220 polling stations (Dawn News).

The results met a doubtful and critical response, as they are being viewed as ‘influenced’  by the governing party.
As expected, PMLN’s win on the same constituency where they were previously disqualified due to corruption charges caused a social media frenzy.

At one hand Maryam Nawaz declared this victory as a clear refusal to accept the Supreme Court decision by the public, on the other hand, the party is being criticized for swaying the results.

Amidst this conflict of opinions, we gathered some responses to convey how the prominent leaders, journalists and the ultimate authority i.e the public thinks of the election’s outcome.

Legitimate result or predetermined and influenced? Let’s see what people have to say:

Some comments from Siasat.pk’s Facebook page:

The reaction of the people and the result of the election show a strange analogy. Where PML N has already lost its credibility after Nawaz Sharif found culpable of corruption, those who survived the accountability grind still remain in power, preaching the same conventional ideology.

Whether the results are valid or there exist discrepancy in the result? Does this election follow the pavement of being influenced by power or it actually is, as they say, the decision of the ‘people’s court’?
