Ground-breaking: Special three-wheeled EVs for women commuters to be launched in Pakistan
The Minister for Science and Technology, Fawad Chaudhry, announced on Monday, the release of specially designed 3-wheeled electric vehicles (EVs) for female commuters. He said:
The launch of the EV shall be a part of the e-vehicle project initiated to ensure a safe, convenient, and economical means of transport for women.
Fawad Chaudhry briefly described the vehicles and said:
The 3-wheeled EVs will be available in bright colors and will include Wi-Fi, an air-conditioned cabin, and GPS technology as standard.
Why are these EVs being introduced for women?
The Federal Minister highlighted:
Ladies who are going out to work or study have to deal with various inconveniences every day. The new electric vehicles can help the ladies minimize routine issues and enjoy a great deal of ease.
The PTI lawmaker, Fawad Chaudhry, shed some light on the future of EVs in Pakistan too. He said:
Efforts are being made to normalize the use of EVs in the country. A Chinese Automaker, Skywell Automobile, is investing $50 million to launch electric buses in Pakistan. This investment will go towards the initial developmental phase. The phase that follows will entail the local manufacturing of electric buses in Pakistan. Once completed, the buses will begin operations in Islamabad and Lahore.
