Three suspects arrested for gang-raping minor students, sharing videos online
The number of reported child abuse cases seems to be rising in the year 2021 too.

The Child protection NGO Sahil has stated that more than six kids were subjected to sexual assault in Pakistan in the first half of 2020. As many as 1,489 children’s sexual abuse cases were reported in Pakistan, while the most were registered in Punjab.

The Punjab Police arrested three of five suspects involved in the D. G. Khan gang-rape case on the 1st of March, 2020. The three suspects are namely Farooq, Rawal (alias Diwan), and Sohail.

According to reports, the men were being interrogated for their involvement in the gang-rape of minor students of Government High School, Jampur, and distributing videos of the assault online.
The police officials investigating the case stated:
The suspects would rape students of the school in Rajanpur district, D. G. Khan, and blackmail them into keeping silent.

Following the arrests, Punjab Police is now contacting the parents of the rape survivors to initiate criminal proceedings against the accused. However, if the families refuse to participate, the police will become the plaintiff in the case.

Further investigation into the case is currently underway. The Punjab Police is exploring the suspects’ ties to an international child pornography ring. Officials investigating the case state:
The ties are being explored to ascertain whether the gang has any links to the international child pornography ring.
