The apex court set aside the extended three-year sentence and maintained the one year jail term given by the Islamabad High Court in April 2018. The April 2018 verdict was challenged by the convicts in Islamabad High Court (IHC) in June that year.

The IHC increased their sentences from one year to 3 years and also increased the imposed fine from 50,000 to 0.3 million. However, the top court in its verdict yesterday restored the April 2018 verdict and reduced their jail term.
